Every home owner, contractor and even some renter’s need a drill! Cordless drills are good for just about any task and in most cases can replace the dinky screwdriver.
So put away the phillips head and pick up a DeWalt cordless drill (or two,) they might just be your new best friends.
Below I list my favorite drill of the moment but truthfully, if you’re used to using a standard screw driver for most of your tasks, any drill will be a huge upgrade! I’ve just always favored Dewalt because neither myself nor Mr. Stone Head has ever had any problems with our drills – and between the both of us we’ve been using them for 15 years!

Now as for what I like about these drills…
Lightweight & Easy to Use
The drills, especially the impact driver, are lightweight and perfect for using for hours on end. The drills are also comfortable to hold for long periods of time and the bits are super easy and fast to change.
LED Lights
The Led Lights are in just the right spots. You can actually see what you’re trying to do! My old drill had LED lights but they were positioned so that while I was drilling the drill itself would cast a huge shadow on what I was drilling! It actually defeated the purpose of having the lights… I couldn’t see what I was trying to do. So the placement of the lights was actually a major plus even though it seems like a minor thing to consider.
20 Volt Lithium Ion Battery (Lightweight & Charges Fast!)
The battery is so much lighter than the 18 volt drills which really saves your arms when working above your head for long periods of time. The only drawback is that the batteries that come with the combo pack are 1.5Ah so they don’t last incredibly long (although I think it’s more than sufficient for the average DIYer or homeowner, but contractors who work with a drill for 8-10 hours a day might want to upgrade.)
However, the batteries charge really quick and when using only one drill for a project you can just swap out the other battery while one charges. Or you can purchase a different battery such as the 5.0Ah
Lastly, the charger allows for wall mounting, so if you plan on using the drills in one place, like the garage, you can get the charger up and out of the way!
The Bag
The combo kit comes with a nice sturdy bag… which actually weighs on my decision making when buying tools. We carry our tools all over the place, so I am always thinking about how and in what am I going to carry this from job to job? The bag is nice and sturdy as it seems like there are ribs in it that keep it propped up and gives it more a box feeling than just a bag. Bottom line, I’m happy it came with a bag and even happier about the quality of the bag.
So there you have it… there are probably lots more reasons I like the Dewalt Drills (and they probably all will come to me as I’m using the drill!) but they are good quality and you should probably just pick one or two up! If you do, come back here and let me know how you like it!
