Truthfully, this blog has been losing my attention. When I sat down to write a blog post for you guys today I stared at a blank screen for about 10 minutes before I started writing. (I may have also spent an hour on Etsy, Amazon and a few of my favorite blogs, but that’s neither here nor there.)
It seems like the more I monetize this blog the more the posts come off as in-authentic. ( BTW are you guys tired of the word “authentic” yet?)
So I’ve decided to take a break. NO! Not from blogging – you’ll never find me not blogging. I’m simply taking a break from “trying” to make money with this blog. I’ve decided tot tell it like it is, show it it like it is, report it like it is and best of all be myself. Take it or leave it.
So I’ll start from the beginning-ish for those of you who are new around here and are totally confused about what the heck this blog is about.
My name is Kiersten and I’m the healthy home improvement blogger.
I started this blog back in 2015 when Mr. Stone Head and I decided to follow in my parents footsteps and start flipping houses. I mainly used it to keep friends and family up to date on the happenings of our new project but it soon took on a life of it’s own and grew into something so much more.
Now I blog about home improvement tutorials like how to gel stain cabinets, how to make paneling look like drywall and other fun & easy DIY projects for homeowners. I also love blogging about investing in real estate, flipping houses, being a landlord and so much more.
So where does the “healthy” part of healthy home improvement blogger come from?
Over the past 5 years I’ve lost 75 pounds and kept it off, cured a majority of my 25+ medical symptoms (which got me laughed out of my doctor’s office) and I live as chemical free as reasonably possible. My life has never been better and I want to share this with all of you! Don’t worry, I don’t preach – I simply tell you what worked for me and again, you can take it or leave it.
In 2016 my bones, joints and body hurt and ached so badly that I was forced to quit working with Mr. Stone Head and focus on working from home. That’s when I realized people were making money from their blogs! “I WANT TO DO THAT” I thought! So I did just that.
But working from home and blogging all day lead me to some pretty startling discoveries about the “food” I was putting into my body, the “vitamins” I was taking, the “lotion” and potions I was slathering myself in each day and even the “diets” I had constantly been on since I was 13!
I made a commitment to change these things and have never looked back.
So where I can I try and share my knowledge and the “what worked for me” stuff because I truly just want you guys to be healthy and live long and happy lives too!
Before I get all emotional… moving on.
The Current Project
Most of you know we’re currently working on our own fixer upper (which we just moved into!) I know I’ve been saying for a while that I’ll be posting before and after pictures but truthfully, I haven’t taken the “after” pictures. Why? Because I have this mental block that I want all of our decorations to be place, that there can’t be a carpet strand out of place and all of my bespoke light fixtures that I eventually plan to sell in my Etsy shop need to be hung before I take the pictures.
Well I call bullshit on myself.
On that note… I’m making a commitment to post at least bathroom and kitchen pictures in the coming two posts and you can bet your ass that the rest of the house will follow those soon after. I’m sure if you follow me regularly you’re like “geeze. Finally.”
The Next Project
We’re currently taking a break from fixing up our own properties as Todd is focusing on expanding his remodeling business and I’ve got 6 side businesses going on at the moment – all of which I’m super passionate about and can’t wait to start sharing with you.
But just because we’re taking a break from fixing up our own properties doesn’t mean I don’t have my eye on one house in particular… which may be the ultimate reason why the universe hasn’t offered any good deals to us recently. (Keep up with my Instagram stories for more insight into this!)
But for now…
But for now I’ve made a commitment to myself and the universe to do what I’m called to do. What I was put on this earth to do.
I’m a polymath and I’m creating something huge. Stay tuned.
