Happy Thanksgiving!!! Are you now stuffed and slouched at your computer, phone or tablet searching for what to buy the kids for christmas? Well this post is all about toy tools for toddlers (try saying that ten times fast!) and I list out some pretty cool gift ideas for those wanna be home improvement mini-you’s out there.
I never used to be the person that was thinking about Christmas before Thanksgiving. I was that person that was all like “awww, what about poor Thanksgiving, nobody cares about that holiday.”
But now that I am a responsible ::cough cough:: adult, I am starting to think about the holidays way early. Not only to save money but I’ve found that it greatly reduces my stress and I can actually enjoy the festivities instead of worrying about buying gifts – whoah, did those words just come out of my mouth?
So throughout 2017, I started a “list” on Amazon of all the cool kid’s toys we could possibly buy for all the nieces and nephews. I later realized that a huge portion of the list was, plastic work benches utility pouches and toy tools for toddlers!
Then while our neighbor (well soon to be neighbor, we’re moving into this fixer upper soon) was visiting with her young son (who by the way is ADORABLE and I may have to ask her permission to put one picture of him here…) he showed us the most amazing toy I have ever seen in my life. It was a bosch drill. Only in plastic toy form. But guys, this thing had all the bells and whistles. It had the reverse button, it had a removable battery and it even had a light! Saaaayyyy whaaatttt!?!?
I immediately went home to add it to my potential kid gift idea list on Amazon only to find even more cool toy tools and home improvement related gifts for kids. (You know how that goes! You see that “customers who bought this also bought this” – and then you click. Then it says “other items you might be interested in” – and then you click and before you know it you’re buying some red dress that can be wrapped into 10 different looking dresses when all you really wanted to buy was a drill bit tip that can drill through glass – true story.)
ANNNNNNNyways, with the holidays pretty much around the corner, I wanted to share a few toys I think would perfect for those kiddos with an interest in home improvement, or for those parents that would like to spark their kid’s interest!
Toy Tools For Toddlers
The Bosch Construction Worker Toy Set
(Rated 3 years and up) This set is amazing and comes with the drill that I was talking about above (which is $20 on it’s own, so this set is a deal!) How cute is this!?!?
My Own Personal Review
I only have experience with the drill in this set but if the rest of the toys are as nice as the drill then this set is awesome. As for the drill – It. Is. So. Friggin’ cool guys… I CANNOT believe how realistic it is. The battery comes in and out, the drill actually spins (and all the way around, not just half way like some pretend drills) and if I remember correctly, it even has different settings. I like the idea that it was so realistic, it can in a way, prep a child for using real power tools.
Deluxe Work Bench
This thing is the mac daddy of kid’s work benches. What I love most is how realistic it seems! I love that it has a pretend shop vac and it has so many storage bins – perfect for the 50 piece accessory set! (Which we all know won’t be 50 by the time the kids are done with it). My favorite part about this thing is that it has a realistic working overhead shop light and comes with a battery-operated drill – with realistic sounds to boot. I like this one so much I’m considering buying it for my house to entice the the nieces and nephews to come over!
Black & Decker Workbench
This work bench is wayyyyyyy more than just a work bench! It’s recommended for ages three and up and my first thought was “I’m over the age of 3 ” This is the absolute best kids work station I’ve seen so far. Guys, everything moves and lights up and makes sounds – what kid doesn’t love that!? The drill press actually does down, there’s storage to keep all the extras and a little tool box! You can’t beat it.
Workbench
This kids workbench is a little less intricate than the one above and is recommended for ages 3-8. The one comes with a drill that spins, a really cool peg board for hanging tools (which I think is an awesome way to teach kids to keep things organized ::cough:: even though I don’t ::cough::) and all kinds of nuts and bolts. The vice grip actually works and kids can use the foam wood pieces to pretend to build stuff. This thing is just cool all around.
The Black and Decker Tool Set
This is another pretty realistic looking tool set. It comes with 42 tools and accessories and yes, the drill spins (and not with a battery!) It also comes with hard hat (which from the reviews it seems like it’s the not absolute best fitting), flathead & phillips screwdrivers, wrenches, hammer, tape measure, pliers, wood saw, play wood, wrench, clamp, screws, nuts, nails, hacksaw and bits for the drill! Say whaaaaatttttt!?!
The Bosch Tool Belt
Every great DIYer, home improver and contractor knows you can’t complete a day’s work without a tool belt! This is such a cute little tool belt for those little helpers who want to be just like mommy or daddy! The drill actually spins (with two AAA batteries) and it also comes with pliers, a saw, hammer, screw driver and wrench.
Mr. Stone Head and I are thinking about getting a few toys to keep around the house for then the nieces and nephews come to visit… If we wind up purchasing from something above, I’ll be sure to update this post! And if you happen to have already bought or do buy something above, let me know what you think!!!
